3 On 03/20/04 at 1340 an automatic trip occurred from 100% power. The reactor tripped due to low Steam Generator water level caused by a short circuit that was created while replacing a recorder in a control panel.
The short circuit affected the voltage to the digital feedwater control system, which caused a feedwater regulating valve to close. The unit was brought to a safe shutdown condition in Mode 3. After the cause was verified and corrected the unit was returned to service on 03/22/04 at 0103. Corrective actions were to make repairs to the impacted portions of the feedwater control system. LER 2004-001 applies.

SUMMARY
OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE March 2004 The unit began the month at 100% power.
On 03/20/04 at 1340 an automatic reactor trip occurred due to low steam generator water level. The low level was caused by maintenance which affected the digital feedwater control system, resulting in a loss of feed. Repairs were made to the feedwater control system and the unit was taken critical on 03/21/04 at 1641. The unit was paralleled to the grid on 03/22/04 at 0103 and returned to 100% power at 1315.
On 03/30/04 at 2220 power was reduced to 70.0% as a precautionary measure, due to a fire protection sprinkler actuating in the vicinity of 11 Steam Generator Feed Pump. Repairs were made to the sprinkler and power was returned to 100% on 03/31/04 at 1003.
The unit operated at 100% for the remainder of the month.
