DZ.214 1 Mr. Dennis K. Rathbun Director, Officc of Congressional Affairs Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555-0001
Dear Director Rathbun,
I am writing on behalf of Senator Sununu's constituent, State Representative Barbara Hull Richardson of Richmond, NH, regarding her concerns with the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant.
Enclosed is a copy of the correspondence our office recently received from Rcpresentative Richardson. As you will note, she believes the Vermont Yankee should be closed and not extend its current capacity by 20%. She also believes more fuel rods are stored at this plant than initially authorized. I would appreciate any information you could provide that would allow me to respond to the issues raised by Representative Richardson.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely, U~iV\\ 1WL<

Dear Senator Sununu:
The Vermont nuclear power plant should now be closed, not allowed to increase its capacity by 20 percent. The fact that the Price Anderson Law forbids anyone from suing for damages in case of a nuclear accident clearly shows how unsafe nuclear plants can be. Even our homeowner's insurance policies exclude collecting damages caused by nuclear accid&hts....
There is no solution for the deposit of nuclear fuel rods. I believe there are many more of these rods stored at the plant than were initially authorized.
Please take these facts into consideration and do everything in your power to protect the people and places that would be seriously and adversely affected by a catastrophic nuclear disaster which appears to be imminent, particularly if its power capacity were increased!
Sincerely, A4l '
