MONTHLY REGIONAL REPORT - REGION III - MARCH 2004 Attached is subject report for Region III Operations Branch (OB) for March 2004.

Of the eight projected examination visits for FY 2004, four have been completed, and four are scheduled. In addition, Prairie Island retake written examinations have been scheduled for April 2004.

MONTHLY REGIONAL REPORT - REGION III - MARCH 2004 - CONTINUED D. ITEMS OF INTEREST:

1. During the month of March 2004, the Region III Operations Branch conducted a follow-up internal self-assessment to evaluate the overall effectiveness of Region IIIs operator licensing program and adherence to policy and regulations.
2. Charles D. Zoia completed the necessary certification requirements during the February 2004 Kewaunee initial examination to be a Westinghouse Pressurized Water Reactor examiner.
3. During the month of March 2004, Raymond Keith Walton and Charles D. Zoia participated in Davis-Besse restart activities.
4. Charles Phillips provided resident inspector coverage at Braidwood during the weeks of March 15 and March 29, 2004.
5. Hironori Peterson participated in the review of an appeal from an applicant at Turkey Point in Region II.
6. Hironori Peterson began a three-month developmental assignment in NRC Headquarters as part of his NRC Leadership Potential Program training.
