QUAD CITIES NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNIT 2 -
DOCUMENTATION OF CONFERENCE CALL WITH EXELON ON MARCH 18, 2004, TO DISCUSS STEAM DRYER INDICATIONS, CAUSES, REPAIRS, MODELING, DRYER TEST PLAN AND COMPARISON WITH DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION On March 18, 2004, members of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a telephone call with Exelon Generation Company, LLC, (the licensee) representatives to discuss indications found by the licensee in the Quad Cities Unit 2 steam dryer during the current refueling outage. The licensees presentation included information on the indications, their causes, repair, steam dryer modeling, a test plan following return to service, and comparisons between the units and steam dryers at Quad Cities Units 1 and 2 and Dresden Units 2 and 3.
The licensees presentation is attached. At the end of the call, the NRC staff summarized the staff's concerns. These concerns are given in the attached summary of the telephone conference.
