PUBLIC MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT

- CATEGORY ONE MEETING ANNUAL ASSESSMENT - SURRY POWER STATION, DOCKET NOS. 50-280 AND 50-281

Dear Mr. Christian:

This letter confirms the conversation between Mr. Barry Garber of your staff and Mr. Gerry McCoy of the NRC staff on February 12, 2004 concerning an Annual Assessment Meeting (Category One public meeting) requested by us which is scheduled for April 8, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. (EST). The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the NRC Reactor Oversight Process Annual Assessment of your Surry Power Station. During the meeting, we recognize that you may have information which you want to present to us or any members of the public in attendance. Accordingly, if you so desire, after our presentation you will be afforded an opportunity to respond to any information contained in the Annual Assessment Letter and to discuss any new or existing programs that are designed to maintain or improve your current performance. The location of the meeting will be at the Surry Government Center, 45 School Street, Surry, VA. 23883. The meeting will be an open meeting in accordance with NRCs Policy Statement for Enhancing Public Participation in NRC Meetings, May 28, 2002 (Federal Register Volume 67, Number 102, 36920-36924).
