Dear Mr. P.T. Kuo:

It has come to my attention that Southern Nuclear Company has filed an application to renew it's operating license to extend operation to units I and 2 at Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant.

The economic impact of Farley in our community is substantial in providing large tax revenues for our cities. Many Farley employees serve in different capacities throughout our city on different Committees, Boards, Civic Organizations and much more.

Employees and their family members also serve as educators, volunteers in our Fire, Police, Rescue and Recreational programs.

Most important is their operation and safety records which are excellent. We the citizens who live in the surrounding community of the Farley Nuclear Plant feel safe in the knowledge that every effort is made to ensure our safety and the safe day-to-day operation. They have an excellent environmental program that addresses it's concerns and future needs.

I along with the citizens of Ashford and the surrounding communities feel strongly that based on the excellent operation and safety records and the obvious economic impact of the Farley Nuclear Plant in our communities, that NRC should rule in favor granting the extension o teoperating license for Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant's units I and 2 for an addonal 20years.
