FirstEnergy Announces Management Changes Discussion:
FirstEnergy Corp announced today that its Board of Directors has elected Anthony J. Alexander as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Mr. Alexander succeeds H. Peter Burg who passed away on January 13, 2004. Mr.
Alexander retains his previous position as President of FirstEnergy. In addition, FirstEnergy announced the election of George M. Smart as Chairman of the Board. FirstEnergy will also begin a search for a new Chief Operating Officer, a position formerly held by Mr. Alexander.
FirstEnergy is a public Utility holding company which owns FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company.
