Kuo Mr. Kuo, I am writing concerning the renewal application that was filed by Southern Nuclear Operating Company, a Southern Company subsidiary for Plant Farley owned by Alabama Power Company. This application seeks to renew current license for an additional 20 years for Farley Units 1 and 2. It will extend the operating license for unit 1 until the year 2037 and Unit 2 until the year 2041.
Plant Farley provides close to 900 jobs and provides approximately 7 million dollars in tax revenue. This kind of economic impact is very much appreciated and needed in Houston County. If you were to poll the local community, you wou -
0f nd verwhelming support of renewing this license and if possible the-addition-oftiiiis at the Plant Farley site. 'This'kind of support comes from the trai'-nd respect that Plant Farley has earned fromthis'commuinity. The trust was earned -from the community's knowledge that Plant Farley is and will remain committed to our community. Commitment to local charities such as our Habitat for Hunmanity program, United Way, American Cancer Society, and you can-go on and on naming different charities that Plant Farley and her people support.
Respect comes from the knowledge that Plant Farley is committed to the safe operation of both Units 1& 2. Cooperation with the local Emergency agencies is ongoing and again helps gain the trust and respect from the local community.
Mr. Kuo I could go on and on singing the praises and discussing the economic impact that Plant Farley has on our community... but my suspicion is that you already know many of the things that I have mentioned. What you do not know is that the people that work at Plant Farley are our neighboirs.Good neighbors. in S6uitheast Alabama 'good neighbors and community pride still means something. Plant Farley and her people are all part of our community, a part that we take extreme pride in!
With that said, I am asking for and supporting the renewal of the License for Plant Farley Units I and 2.
