MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT - CATEGORY ONE MEETING SURRY POWER STATION 50-280 and 50-281

Dear Mr. Christian:

This letter confirms the telephone conversation between Mr. T. Shaub of your staff and Mr. L. Garner of this office on December 30, 2003, concerning an informational meeting (Category One public meeting) which has been scheduled for January 14, 2004, from 1:00 p.m.

to 2:30 p.m (EST). The purpose of this meeting is for your staff to discuss Surry Power Station performance improvements including your corrective action plans related to the Emergency AC Power Unavailability Performance Indicator with NRC management. The location of the meeting will be the Region II Office, Sam Nunn Atlanta Federal Center, 61 Forsyth Street, SW, Atlanta, Georgia, in Suite 24T25. This meeting is an open meeting in accordance with NRCs Policy Statement for Enhancing Public Participation in NRC Meeting, May 28, 2002 (Federal Register Volume 67, Number 102, pages 36920-36924).

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRCs "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRCs document system (ADAMS).
