PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSION FOR THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION (NRC) STAFF TO DESCRIBE ITS LICENSE RENEWAL PROCESS AND TO DISCUSS HOW THE PUBLIC CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE LICENSE RENEWAL PROCESS On November 18, 2003, the NRC staff met with members of the public to describe the license renewal process that will be used to evaluate the license renewal application (LRA) for the Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 2 (ANO-2). The NRC staff presented an overview of the license renewal process that included a detailed discussion of the safety review process. The presentation emphasized the NRC's commitment to increasing public confidence in the regulatory process. As part of the presentation, the NRC included an explanation of how the public can participate in license renewal at various stages of the safety and environmental reviews.
