Dear Mi. Caldwell,
As Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Portage Township, Ottawa County, and on behalf of my fellow Trustees, Keith Heileman and Jack Stables, I would like to offer our support in the restart of the Davis - Besse nuclear power plant.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission 0350 process to evaluate the readiness for the restart has been a good process and will effectively evaluate Davis - Besse after restart.
The plant is in better condition than it ever has been. The employees are working hard to make sure this situation never happens again. There is no question that the continued oversight after restart by the NRC, and their willingness to involve and keep Ottawa County involved is very important to all involved. FENOC has agreed to a closer working relationship with Ottawa County through the appointment of Ottawa County Administrator, Jere Witt, to the Restart Overview Panel and the Company Nuclear Review Board, as an independent oversight.
Based on these facts, the Board of Trustees of Portage Township, encourage and support the restart of the Davis - Besse nuclear power plant.
