PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE RESULTS OF THE NRC INSPECTION PROCEDURE 95003 SUPPLEMENTAL INSPECTION AT THE POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT
Dear Mr. Cayia:
This letter confirms the discussion between Mr. Mike Kunowski of the NRC staff and Ms. Fritzie Flentje of the Nuclear Management Company to have a meeting at 6:30 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday, December 16, 2003, at the Holiday Inn, 4601 Calumet Avenue, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
From July 28 to October 3, 2003, the NRC conducted an inspection in accordance with NRC Inspection Procedure (IP) 95003, Supplemental Inspection for Repetitive Degraded Cornerstones, Multiple Degraded Cornerstones, Multiple Yellow Inputs, or One Red Input.
The inspection was conducted to review your corrective actions for the Red inspection finding associated with the auxiliary feedwater system. Details of this finding were provided in Inspection Reports 50-266/01-17(DRS); 50-301/01-17(DRS), dated April 3, 2002, and 50-266/02-15(DRP); 50-301/02-15(DRP), dated April 2, 2003. In addition, the IP 95003 supplemental inspection also took a diagnostic look at your corrective action, emergency preparedness, and engineering programs.
The purpose of the meeting is for the NRC to discuss the results of the IP 95003 supplemental inspection. The meeting is open to the public and there will be an opportunity for the public to speak with NRC representatives before the meeting is adjourned.
