2003 ILT Exam Random Selection Methodology The 2003 RO and SRO written exam K/As were selected at random. However, due to piloting NUREG-1021, Draft Revision 9, this process used had several iterations.

1. The K/As for the exams were initially selected using the random exam generator included in the W/D Associates PWR K/A Catalog Software.

Because the program uses algorithms based on NUREG-1021 Revision 8, the resulting outlines did not meet all the specifications of NUREG-1021, Draft Revision 9.

2. Where the selected K/As did not meet Revision 9 attributes, the K/As were removed from the outline and new K/As were selected using the process described in NUREG-1021, ES-401 Attachment 1. Instead of using tokens, we counted the available K/As and entered that number in an Excel spreadsheet at cell C24. The following equation selected one number at random: =1+INT(C24*RAND()). The K/A associated with this random number was added to the outline.
3. The RO and SRO outlines were compared for duplication of K/As. Where duplicate K/As were found, the process described in step 2 was used to replace the K/A in the SRO outline.

The outlines derived from these three steps are considered the original outline.

Since then some K/As have been replaced and documented on form ES-401-4.
