Attention: P.T. Kuo
Dear Mr. Kuo:
It is with great pride I recommend the Joseph M Farley Nuclear Plant located in Houston County, Alabama, just outside of Dothan; be-reissued a license f6-perate.Farley Units 1 and 2 for an additional 20 years. For 25 years, Plant Farley. has provided reliable, safe, emission-free electricity to the people of Alabama As one of the area's largest employers,w th*'more t1'an 900 local residents working at the substantial contributions are made each year by Plant Farley and ib loyeet the local economy through property and sales taxes. Additionally, the present $7 million generated in local reven'ueby;theplat helppayforavariety of services in the community suich'as schools, police and fire 'rotection, and road improvements.
Being a good neighbor means working together to ensure that the community continues to be a better place to live for everyone. The men and women at Plant Farley have proven time and time again, the importance of being a good neighbor to the City of Dothan and the surrounding areas. The employees support a wide range of community projects such as Habitat for Humanity and United Way, by donating their time and money.
Plant Farley is also notably recognized for the working relationships between area elementary schools on environmental protection concerns and the enhancement of wildlife. Furthermore, the plant as achieved many accomplishments, setting net generation records and a record for lowest radiation exposure as recent as 2002.
In closing, I strongly support Plant Farley's effort to renew their operating license. Your decision to continue operations will keep one of the community's best neighbors.
Sincerely, Don Clements Commissioner-District 3 HUB OF THE VV1REGRASS PEANUT CAPITAL OF THE WORLD
