Nuclear Regulatory Commission One White Flint Washington, D.C. 20555 Attention: P.T. Kuo

Dear Mr. Kuo:

It is with great pride I recommend the Joseph M. Farley-Nuclear Plant located in Houston County, Alabama, just outside of Dothanr, be reissued a license to operate Farley Units I and 2 for an additional 20 years. For 25 years, Plant Farley has provided reliable, safe, emission-free electricity to the people of Alabama.

As one of the'area's largest employers, with more thia 900 local residents'-Working at the, lant, substantial contributions are mide-eachfyear by Plant Farley and its employees to the local economy thro'ugh property and sales taxes. Additionally, the present $7.million genei'ted in local revenu bythe pliantihelp pay for a variety of services in the community such as schoolspoliceand fie protection, 'and road improvements.-

Being a good neighbor means working together to ensure that the community continues to be a better place to live for everyone. The men and women at Plant Farley have proven time aind time again the importance of being a good neighbor to the City of Dothan and the surrounding areas. The employees support a wide range of community projects such as Habitat for Humanity and United Way, by donating their time and money.

Plant Farley is also notably recognized for the working relationships between area elementary schools on environmental protection concerns and the enhancement of wildlife. Furthermore, the plant as achieved many accomplishments, setting net generation records and a record for lowest radiation exposure as recent as 2002.

In closing, I strongly support Plant Farley's effort to renew their operating license. Your decision to continue operations will keep one of the community's best neighbors.

Sincerely, 7t-CAmossone Commissioner-District 2 A uS q HUB OF THE WIREGRASS PEANUjr CAPITAL OF THE WORLD
