DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 2 AND 3 - WITHDRAWAL OF AN AMENDMENT REQUEST (TAC NOS. MC0596 AND MC0597)
Dear Mr. Skolds:
By letter dated August 29, 2003, you applied for an amendment to the Dresden Nuclear Power Station (DNPS), Units 2 and 3, Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-19 and DPR-25. The proposed amendment would have revised the DNPS Updated Final Safety Analysis Report to allow the use of Unit 2/3 reactor building crane for handling of heavy loads up to a total of 117 tons for removal and re-installation of the reactor shield blocks prior to and during the Unit 2 refueling outage D2R18. Subsequently, by letter dated October 17, 2003, you withdrew the amendment request.
The Commission has filed the enclosed Notice of Withdrawal of Application for Amendment to Facility Operating License with the Office of the Federal Register for publication.

7590-01-P UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 2 AND 3 DOCKET NOS. 50-237 AND 50-249 NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL OF APPLICATION FOR AMENDMENT TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has granted the request of Exelon Generation Company, LLC (the licensee) to withdraw its August 29, 2003, application for proposed amendment to Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-19 and DPR-25 for the Dresden Nuclear Power Station (DNPS), Units 2 and 3, located in Grundy County, Illinois.
The proposed amendment would have revised the DNPS Updated Final Safety Analysis Report to allow the use of Unit 2/3 reactor building crane for handling of heavy loads up to a total of 117 tons for removal and re-installation of the reactor shield blocks prior to and during the Unit 2 refueling outage D2R18.
The Commission had previously issued a Notice of Consideration of Issuance of Amendment published in the FEDERAL REGISTER on September 10, 2003 (68 FR 53401),
and on October 14, 2003 (68 FR 59223). However, by letter dated October 17, 2003, the licensee withdrew the proposed change.
For further details with respect to this action, see the application for amendment dated August 29, 2003, and the licensees letter dated October 17, 2003, which withdrew the application for license amendment.
