Procedure Change to Address SHPO Issues We have started the review process for changing the Environmental Evaluation procedure to address some concerns related to historical and archeological properties. It is not anticipated that this review cycle will last long.

This procedure, as currently written, says that when disturbing ground at locations not previously disturbed, precautionary measures shall be taken to ensure that sites listed or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places are not impacted. The evaluator is to review the FES-OL and supplements, FES-CP, Environmental Report to the NRC and supplements, and/or Appendix B to Technical Specifications to obtain information pertaining to the archeological significance of the location when ground will be disturbed. If the document review indicates the NRC has previously evaluated the location when ground will be disturbed as not significant, then no further action Is needed. Otherwise, the reviewer is to contact the State Historic Preservation Office for guidance on how to proceed prior to initiating the ground disturbance.

I will inform you when the change has been finalized. If you should have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact me at any time.
