Subject:

Notification of Pending Changes to the Emergency Response Data System In accordance with Subsection 3.b of 10 CFR 50 Appendix E Section VI, uEmergency Response Data System," Exelon Generation Company, LLC (EGC) is providing notification of pending changes to the Emergency Response Data System (ERDS) that could potentially affect ERDS transmission format or computer protocol. Currently, the ERDS program transmits data collected and formatted by the Point History program with data retrieved from the station process computer. A revised ERDS interface program has been developed that will collect and format data from another program, the Process Book (PI) data historian, which receives data from the process computer. The process computer will send its data to the PI data historian for subsequent transmission via ERDS. None of the existing data points transmitted by ERDS will be modified.

Additionally, the computer protocol has been upgraded to meet the requirements of NUREG 1394, NEmergency Response Data System (ERDS) Implementation, "Section II.B.1," Data Transmission."

The interface program is being initially tested in a computer lab with subsequent live transmission testing to follow. Implementation at Dresden Nuclear Power Station for both Units 2 and 3 is scheduled for October 1,2003.
