PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT SELF-ASSESSMENT IN PREPARATION FOR NRC SUPPLEMENTAL INSPECTION PER PROCEDURE 95003
Dear Mr. Cayia:
This refers to the public meeting held on June 24, 2003, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, to discuss preparations by the NRC and Point Beach Nuclear Plant for the upcoming three team inspections that will be conducted as part of the NRCs 95003 supplemental inspection efforts.
At this meeting, the NRC presented general information about the NRCs Reactor Oversight Process and specific information about the 95003 team inspections. Mr. Mano Nazar, you, and members of your staff presented information on corrective actions taken for recent problems with the auxiliary feedwater system related to instrument air and to recirculation line orifices, the development and status of your Excellence Plan to improve station performance, and your preparations for the 95003 supplemental inspection.
The handouts provided at the meeting by the NRC and by your staff and a listing of principal NRC and Nuclear Management Company attendees are attached as Enclosures 1, 2 and 3 to this letter.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRCs Rule of Practice, a copy of this letter and its enclosures will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records System (PARS) component of NRCs document system (ADAMS).
