3 On 05/28/03 at 1134 an automatic trip occurred from 100% power. The trip was caused by a short circuit that was created while connecting the test equipment used for trouble shooting in an instrument cabinet. The trouble shooting was being perfonned to determine the cause of and to correct the Main Turbine Governor Valve oscillations. The unit was brought to a safe shutdown condition in Mode 3. Testing was performed to verify the exact cause of the trip. The unit was returned to service on 05/29/03 at 1903. The immediate corrective action was to suspend trouble shooting of the valve oscillation problem and require management approval for any on-line maintenance performed in the affected cabinets. A detailed root cause analysis and a Licensee Event Report (LER) are in progress.
