North Anna Power Station OSART International Experience 2

OSART Program Purpose

Ø To assist Member States in enhancing the operational safety of individual plants

Ø To promote the continuous development of operational safety within all Member States by the dissemination of information on good practices 3

OSART Program Objectives

Ø Provide an objective assessment of some key operational safety areas with respect to proven international performance and practices

Øproviding written recommendations where performance or practices should be improved

Øproviding written suggestions where performance could be enhanced

Øidentifying good practices 4

OSART Program

Ø Create an exchange of information and experience between team and plant counterparts to:

Øprovide plant with informal assistance and advice

Øbroaden team members experience and knowledge

Øtrain team members in a review methodology that will enhance their management skills

Ø Disseminate information of OSART missions including good practices to all Member States 5

Ø North Anna Inspection Period was 01/10/00 to 02/10/00 11 Reviewers, 1 Host Peer, and 3 Observers

Ø Follow-up Inspection was 04/08/02 to 04/12/02 4 Reviewers 6
