VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT NRC EXAMINATION REPORT -
50-424/2003-301 AND 50-425/2003-301
Dear Mr. Gasser:
On May 8, 2003, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) administered an operating retake
examination to one employee of your company who had reapplied for a license to operate the
Vogtle Electric Generating Plant. The Senior Reactor Operator applicant was required to
retake the Integrated Plant Operations portion (Simulator Operating Test) of the operating
examination. The applicant passed his retake examination.
No findings of significance were identified.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter and its
enclosures will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room
or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRCs document system (ADAMS).

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
ER 05000424/2003-301, ER 05000425/2003-301, on 5/8/2003; Southern Nuclear Operating
Company, Inc., Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, Units 1 and 2, Licensed Operator
Examinations.
The NRC examiner conducted an operator licensing initial retake examination in accordance
with the guidance of NUREG-1021, Revision 8, Supplement 1, Operator Licensing Examiner
Standards for Power Reactors. This examination implemented the operator licensing
requirements of 10 CFR §55.45.
The NRC administered the simulator operating test on May 8, 2003. The operator licensing
initial operating retake examination was developed by the NRC. One senior reactor operator
(SRO) applicant passed this retake of his operating examination and was issued a license.
No significant issues were identified.

Inspection Scope
The NRC developed the operating examinations in compliance with the guidelines
specified in NUREG-1021, Revision 8, Supplement 1.
The examiner reviewed the licensees examination security measures while preparing
and administering the examinations to ensure that examination security and integrity
complied with 10 CFR 55.49, Integrity of examinations and tests.
The examiner evaluated one SRO applicant who was being assessed under the
guidelines specified in NUREG-1021. The examiner administered the retake of the
simulator operating test on May 8, 2003. The evaluation of the applicant and a review of
documentation was performed to determine if the applicant met the requirements
specified in 10 CFR Part 55.

No findings of significance were identified.
The applicant passed his retake examination.
