NOTIFICATION OF INTENT TO APPLY PREVIOUSLY APPROVED 10 CFR PART 50 QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM TO INDEPENDENT SPENT FUEL STORAGE INSTALLATION (ISFSI) ACTIVITIES In public meetings with the NRC, TVA has presented plans to construct an independent spent fuel storage installation (ISFSI) for the storage of spent fuel in dry casks at the Browns Ferry site under a general license as provided in 10 CFR Part 72.

In accordance with 10 CFR 72.140(d), TVA is notifying the NRC that it intends to apply the Commission-approved, 10 CFR 50, Appendix B quality assurance program for BFN to ISFSI activities.

In accordance with 10 CFR 72.140(d), TVA also shall meet the requirements of 10 CFR 72.174 for recordkeeping.

Revision 10 of TVA QA Plan was the last revision to receive NRC written approval. Revision 10 was submitted to the NRC under Docket Nos. 50-259, 50-260, 50-296, 50-327, 50-328, 50-390, 50-391, 50-438, and 50-439 by letters dated March 22, April 25, and June 13, 2000. NRC approved the TVA QA Plan by letter dated July 25, 2000. The current revision to the TVA QA Plan (TVA-NQA-PLN89-A, Revision 12) was submitted to the NRC by letter dated August 28, 2002, in accordance with 10 CFR 50.54(a)(3).

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Page 2 May 13, 2003 Appendix A of the Plan contains a matrix that shows where the Plan addresses the 10 CFR 72, Subpart G quality assurance criteria.
