SUMMARY
OF THE MARCH 27, 2003, MEETING WITH FIRSTENERGY NUCLEAR OPERATING COMPANY TO DISCUSS PERRY PERFORMANCE On March 27, 2003, a public meeting was held at the Tarbuck Educational and Community Center, Perry, Ohio, between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company staff. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss NRCs assessment of Perrys performance for the period of January 1, 2002, through December 31, 2002.
During the NRC presentation, an overall assessment of Perry performance was provided. As explained in the Annual Assessment letter from NRC to Mr. William R. Kanda, Vice President Nuclear, FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company, dated March 4, 2003, reference ADAMS accession number ML030640434, Perry operated in a manner that preserved public health and safety and fully met all cornerstone objectives. The slides presented that evening by the NRC are available in ADAMS (accession number ML030920481).
Before adjourning the meeting the NRC provided the opportunity for members of the public to ask questions.
