Dear Mr. Shriver:
The NRC Office of Investigations (OI), Region I Field Office, initiated an investigation (Case No.
1-2002-034) to determine if a senior reactor operator at Susquehanna failed to comply with procedures and provided false information to licensee investigators in February 2001 concerning a fuel handling event. Based on the evidence developed during this investigation, OI did not substantiate that the SRO deliberately failed to comply with procedures nor did the SRO provide false information to licensee investigators. A copy of the synopsis of OI Report 1-2002-034 is enclosed for your information.
Please note that final NRC documents, such as the OI report described above, may be made available to the public under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) subject to redaction of information appropriate under the FOIA. Requests under the FOIA should be made in accordance with 10 CFR 9.23, Requests for Records, a copy of which is enclosed for your information.

ENCLOSURE 1 RI-2002-A-0117 This investigation was initiated by the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Office of Investigations (OI), Region I, on September 13, 2002, to determine if a senior reactor operator at Susquehanna Steam Electric Station (SSES), Berwick, PA, failed to comply with procedures and provided false information to licensee investigators in February 2001.
Based on the evidence developed during this investigation, OI did not substantiate that the senior reactor operator deliberately failed to comply with procedures nor did he/she provide false information to licensee investigators in February 2001.
