Major Plant Activities in 2002 PApril 11, 2002-the NRC completed a supplemental inspection at the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant
- Focused on the root causes and development of corrective actions for the White inspection finding associated with the cooling water pump
- The inspector determined that the corrective actions for the finding appropriately addressed the identified root causes PDecember 13, 2002-the NRC proposed a severity level III NOV and $60,000 civil penalty for a violation of 10 CFR 50.9.
- For failure to provide complete and accurate information to the NRC from in April 2001, concerning Prairie Islands request for a NOED.
Plant Performance Summary PPINGP operated in a safe manner overall PFully met all cornerstone objectives PPlant performance for the 3rd and 4th quarters of the assessment period was within the Licensee Response Column
- All Green inspection findings and performance indicators PPlant performance for the 1st and 2nd quarters was within the Regulatory Response Column
- One White finding in the Mitigating Systems cornerstone
Greater than GREEN PIs and Findings (Details)
POne White finding in the migating systems cornerstone removed during the 2nd quarter
- Found during cooling water system design basis inspection conducted in 2000
- Due to inadequate root cause evaluation
- Closed during a followup supplemental inspection in April 2002
