NEW INSPECTOR NAMED AT VERMONT YANKEE

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission Officials in King of Prussia, Pa., have appointed Beth E.

Sienel as the new resident inspector at Vermont Yankee, in Vernon, Vt. The plant is operated by

Entergy Nuclear Generation Company.

Sienel joins Senior Resident Inspector David Pelton at Vemont Yankee. She replaces Resident

Inspector Ed Knutson, who was reassigned to the Nine Mile Point nuclear power plant in Scriba, N.Y.

Sienel joined the NRC in 1990, and was a Reactor Engineer Intern in the Regional Office in

King of Prussia, Pa. As an intern, she completed several assignments in Region I and in the Office of

Nuclear Reactor Regulation, including an assignment in the Peach Bottom resident office (in Delta,

Pa.). Following completion of the intern program, Sienel was a reactor engineer in the Region I

Systems Section. She has worked as a resident inspector at the March 25, 2003Pilgrim Nuclear Power

Station in Plymouth, Mass., and, most recently, at Millstone Station in Waterford, Conn.

Sienel is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., where she earned a

Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They

serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring

significant work projects and interfacing with plant workers and the public.

The resident inspectors at Vermont Yankee can be reached at 802/257-4319.
