On February 11, 2003, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued an Order in accordance with 10 CFR 2.202 that established interim inspection requirements for pressurized water reactor (PWR) vessel heads. Licensees are required by Section V of the Order to submit an answer in accordance with 10 CFR 2.202 within twenty (20) days of date of the Order.
South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) has previously proposed inspections in response (Reference 1) to NRC Bulletin 2002-02. The NRC (Reference 2) approved this inspection schedule for short-term inspections. SCE&G intends to implement the short-term inspection schedule and techniques as approved by the NRC in the referenced letter and as authorized by footnote 2 of IV.C of the Order. This Inspection will be in full compliance with the Order.
SCE&G commits to implementing the long-term inspections prescribed by the Order.
Implementation of these two actions will assure compliance with the Order.
