SUMMARY
OF MARCH 18, 2003 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING WITH ENTERGY NUCLEAR VERMONT YANKEE On March 18, 2003 at 1pm, an annual performance assessment meeting was conducted at the Vernon Townhall/Library in Vernon, Vermont between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Entergy Nuclear Vermont Yankee (ENVY). The NRC presented and discussed its assessment of the safety performance of Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station for calendar year 2002.
The NRC presented a summary of national plant performance and discussed the annual performance assessment results for Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station. The NRC also presented an update on NRC actions to enhance nuclear plant security and other self improvement efforts. ENVY responded to the assessment. At the end of the meeting between the NRC and ENVY, NRC officials offered public attendees the opportunity to ask questions to the NRC. Citizens and the local media asked many questions which were addressed by the NRC officials. No feedback forms were submitted by the public immediately following the meeting.
