Extract From the Minutes of the Meeting of the Board of Directors of FirstEnergy Corp. held November 17, 2002 The Chairman stated that FirstEnergy places nuclear, radiological and personnel safety first in the operation and maintenance of its nuclear plants. The Chairman further stated that the officers of the Company have recommended that this Board state its continuing commitment to the safe operation of the Company's facilities, in particular its nuclear facilities.
Upon motion duly made and seconded, the following resolutions were unanimously adopted:
RESOLVED: That the Board of Directors recognizes the Company's responsibilities with regard to public health and safety in the operations of its facilities, particularly the safe operations of its nuclear facilities; RESOLVED FURTHER: That the Board recognizes that safe nuclear operations contribute significantly to the success of the Company; and RESOLVED FURTHER: That the Board expressly states that safe nuclear operations are and shall be of first and foremost importance to the Company's nuclear program.
I, Nancy C. Ashcom, Corporate Secretary of FirstEnergy Corp., do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of resolutions duty and regularly adopted at meeting of the Board of Directors of FirstEnergy Corp. duly called and held on November 17, 2002, at which a quorum was in attendance and voting throughout, and that said resolutions have not since been rescinded but are still in full force and effect.
