EAST RAMAPO CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT SPRING VALLEY, NEW YORK The following resolution was adopted by the Board of Education on February 4, 2003:

WHEREAS, the East Ramapo Central School District is within the 50-mile peak injury zone of the Indian Point Nuclear Facility; and WHEREAS, based on substantial and significant evidence, the current evacuation plan is inadequate and unworkable; and WHEREAS, due to the large population of the region and limited escape routes and resources, it will be impossible for even the best evacuation plan to adequately protect the health and safety of our children and teachers.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the East Ramapo Central School District Board of Education implores the State Emergency Management Office (SEMO), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to not certify the emergency evacuation plan for Indian Point, which the four surrounding counties of Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam have not certified.

Janet S. Hardwick District Clerk
