The 2 vertical air tanks fabricated by Phillips Getschow for modification request MR 02-001 had welds on nozzles that were of questionable size based on the information provided on fabrication drawing #2029011 Revision 2.and supporting calculations. When examined independently by Nuclear Oversight and then by a NDE technician, the weld size acceptability could not be readily determined based on information provided. Since these tanks are not yet installed, this is not an operability issue. AR being submitted jointly with NDE.

Responsible engineer should review the calcs and based on the weld size, determine if the existing welds are acceptable prior to installation.
Phillips Getschow, Oconto Falls Wisconsin office shall be routed a copy of this CAP in order that they can initiate a Nonconformance report in accordance with their shop Quality control Manual Section 6 "Nonconformance's'.
