TELEPHONE CONVERSATION WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF CALVERT CLIFFS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, INC., CONCERNING THE LICENSEES ONGOING REACTOR PRESSURE VESSEL HEAD INSPECTION PROGRAM (TAC NO. MB7609)
On Tuesday, March 11, 2003, there was a telephone conference with representatives of Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Inc. (CCNPPI), concerning the licensees ongoing reactor pressure vessel head inspection program at Calvert Cliffs Unit 2. Unit 2 is currently shut down for refueling and steam generator replacement. Participants in this call included Guy Vissing, Steven Bloom, and Allen Hiser of NRR and several management individuals of CCNPPI including Getachew Tesfay, Bill Holston, Mike Milbradt, Robert Hardies, and others. The attachment provides an agenda of the call. The licensee described its inspection results, including issues of limited inspection coverage on some of the nozzles inspected. With the potential that these issues could affect the licensees compliance with Order EA-03-009, Order Modifying Licenses, issued on February 11, 2003, the licensee requested a public meeting with the NRC. Thus, another meeting was scheduled for March 18, 2003, at the NRC Headquarters to discuss the licensees inspection program.
