DPR-70 AND DPR-75 DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 On February 11, 2003, the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued an order to modify the license for Salem Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1 and
- 2. This Order requires specific inspections of the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) head and associated penetration nozzles at pressurized water reactors (PWRs).
Prior to issuance of this order, the NRC issued a series of bulletins and other communications, including Bulletin 2002-02, "Reactor Pressure Vessel and Vessel Head Penetration Nozzle Inspection Programs," dated August 9, 2002.
PSEG issued a letter dated September 6, 2002 that stated we would perform the inspections stated in the Bulletin for the next refueling outages.
By this letter, PSEG is consenting to this order. As of February 11, 2003, PSEG is in full compliance with the requirements as stated in Section IV of the Order.
However, PSEG is currently reviewing accessibility associated with the required inspections. Should a need arise, a relief request in accordance Section IV F of the order will be submitted.
