POTENTIAL OPEN ITEMS FOR THE REVIEW OF THE LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR FORT CALHOUN STATION, UNIT 1

Dear Mr. Ridenoure:

By letters dated January 9, 2002, and April 5, 2002, the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) submitted, for the Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) review, an application pursuant to 10 CFR Part 54, to renew the operating license for the Fort Calhoun Station, Unit 1 (FCS). The NRC staff is reviewing the information contained in the license renewal application and has identified, in the enclosure, areas where additional information is needed to complete its review.

The enclosed potential open items (POIs) constitute the entire set of potential open items from the staff.

The staff would be willing to meet with OPPD prior to submittal of the responses to provide clarifications of the staffs POIs.
