JOSEPH M. FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT - PLANS FOR AN INDEPENDENT SPENT FUEL STORAGE INSTALLATION AT THE JOSEPH M. FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT 348 and 50-364

Dear Mr. Beasley:

This letter confirms the communication between Mr. Terry Sides of the Southern Nuclear Operating Company and Dr. William B. Gloersen of my staff on January 11, 2003, concerning a meeting to be conducted on February 6, 2003 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Your staff requested this meeting to present your plans for spent fuel dry storage at the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant. The meeting agenda is provided as an enclosure to this letter. The location of the meeting will be at the NRC Region II Office, 61 Forsyth Street, SW, Conference Room 24T20 of the Sam Nunn Atlanta Federal Center, Atlanta, Georgia. This meeting will be a Category 1 meeting in which the public is invited to observe and will have one or more opportunities to communicate with the NRC after the business portion, but before the meeting is adjourned as per the NRC policy statement Enhancing Public Participation in NRC Meetings, published in the Federal Register: May 28, 2002 (Volume 67, Number 102, Page 36920-36924).

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in NRC's Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's document system (ADAMS).
