Special Report - Hydrogen/Oxy2en Monitor Out of Service In accordance with Vermont Yankee's Technical Specifications (TS), Table 3.2.6, this letter is submitted because one of the Containment Hydrogen/Oxygen (H2 02 ) monitors was out of service for greater than 30 days.
On October 27, 2002, the "B" H2 02 monitor was declared inoperable. Troubleshooting determined that a worn seat on a pressure regulator and subsequently a flow switch in the unit required replacement. Spare parts were ordered, and the necessary repairs and testing were completed. TFS Table 3.2.6 requires a report be filed with the Commission if one of these monitors is out of service for greater than 30 days. The "B" 1-1202 monitor was returned to service oln December 5, 2002, thus exceeding the 30 days specified.
The redunidant "A" 11202 monitor was functioning properly and providing monitoring capability for these parameters during this period. Additionally, sampling capability exists to measure these parameters if tile need were to arise.
