Dear Mr. Bakken:
As a result of a concern that a former Principal Nuclear Specialist was discriminated against for raising a safety concern, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Region III Office of Investigations (OI) recently conducted an investigation regarding this matter.
The NRC has completed its investigation into these matters. Based on the results of its investigation, the NRC did not substantiate that the former Principal Nuclear Specialist was discriminated against for raising a safety concern. A copy of the OI report synopsis is enclosed.
This concludes the NRCs investigation into this matter.

SYNOPSIS This investigation was initiated on October 15, 2001, by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Office of Investigations, Region III, to determine if a former Principal Nuclear Specialist working at the D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant was discriminated against for raising a safety concern.
Based on the evidence developed, the investigation did not substantiate the allegation of discrimination against the former Principal Nuclear Specialist.
