SUMMARY

OF OCTOBER 31, 2002, TELEPHONE CONFERENCE WITH ROCHESTER GAS AND ELECTRIC CORPORATION REGARDING INSTALLATION OF AN AUTOMATED FATIGUE MONITORING SYSTEM, FATIGUE PRO The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and a representative of Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation (RG&E) held a telephone conference on October 31, 2002, to discuss RG&Es use of an automated fatigue monitoring system, Fatigue Pro. The discussion concerned the feasibility of using Fatigue Pro to quantify fatigue calculations for the pressurizer surge line for license renewal activities.

The NRC staff indicated that using Fatigue Pro to perform on-line stress evaluations for the period of extended operation (license renewal) is an approved methodology for monitoring fatigue and has been approved for other plant applications.
