-On May-28-31--2002 an NRC Inspection-was conducted at the-Reactor-Critical Facility (RCF) of Rensselear Polytechnic Institute (RPI). A Level IV violation was determined, for which this is the response as required by 10CFR2.201.

The violation consisted of an Inadequate number (only Mno)bf Emeirgency Drills during the period April 2000 to May 2002. This was In violation of Section 10 of the RCF Emergency Plan.

1. The violation occurred Inadvertently as a result of oversight. The RCF personnel were very busy with upgrade, thesis research, enhanced security, and surveillances.
2. The corrective gteps which have been taken include (a) a more attention-getting item on the RCF Action Requirement List,.(b) a "sin-off requirement on that List both by the RCF Director and by the RCF Supervisor for each action required for the RCF by the Technical Specifications, by the Plans, and by the Procedures.
3. The corrective steps that will be taken are noted above in item 2..
4. Full compliance has been achieved.
