ISSUANCE OF FINAL SIGNIFICANCE DETERMINATION AND NOTICE OF VIOLATION This is to inform the Commission that a WHITE Significance Determination Process (SDP) finding and associated Notice of Violation will be issued on or around November 8, 2002, to Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. as a result of inspections at the Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit 2. This WHITE finding, an issue with low to moderate increased importance to safety, which may require additional NRC inspections, involved a moderate degradation of the central control room west wall fire barrier in that there were passages in the wall that could allow smoke and gases to penetrate the control room in the event of a turbine building fire.
This condition represented a violation of the NRC-approved fire protection program invoked by License Condition 2.K of the facility operating license. Accordingly, a Notice of Violation associated with a WHITE finding is being issued.
It should be noted that the licensee has not been specifically informed of this action. The schedule of issuance and notification are:
