Secretary U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission OFFICE OF SECRETARY AND RULEMAKINGS STAFF Mail Stop O-16C1 ADJUDICATIONS Washington, D. C. 20555-0001 Seabrook Station Comments on the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on 10 CFR 50.44, Standards for Combustible Gas Control System in Light-Water-Cooled Power Reactors (67 Fed. Reg. 50374, August 2, 2002)
This letter provides the North Atlantic Energy Service Corporation (North Atlantic) response to the request for comment on the proposed rulemaking for 10 CFR 50.44, Standard for Combustible Gas Control System in Light-Water-Cooled Power Reactors. Notice of the opportunity to comment was published in the*FederalIRegister (67 Fed. Reg. 50374).
North Atlantic has reviewed the comments submitted separately by the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) on behalf of the nuclear energy industry and endorses those comments. North Atlantic believes that the proposed rulemaking to eliminate the requiremenf for 1iydrogen recombiners and downgrade the equipment requirements for hydrogen and oxygen monitors and analyzers is an appropriate risk-informed initiative.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this important issue. If you have any questions regarding these comments, please contact me at (603) 773-7194.
Very truly yours, NORTH ATLANTI NERGY SERVICE CORP.
