PSEG Nuclear LLC P.O Box 236, Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey 08038-0236 OCT 1 0 2002 LRN-02-0347 United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission PSEG Nuclear LLC Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555 SALEM GENERATING STATIONS - UNIT I and 2 FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE DPR-70 and DPR-75 DOCKET NOS. 50-272 and 50-311 REQUEST FOR WITHDRAWAL OF RELIEF REQUEST SC-RR-A07 By letter dated July 8, 2002, PSEG Nuclear LLC (PSEG) submitted the subject relief request for Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approval. The relief request, SC RR-A07, was submitted for the use of Code Case N-568, Alternative Examination Requirements for Welded Attachments, Section Xl, Division 1, where a component support or a portion of a component support might obstruct examination of welded attachments. The request for relief is for the second 10-year Inservice Inspection (ISI) interval in which Salem adopted the 1983 Edition of ASME Section Xl, including Summer 1983 Addenda, as the Code of record.
Subsequent discussions with NRC staff on September 12, 2002 have resulted in the determination that relief as requested is not necessary at this time. Therefore, this letter requests withdrawal of Relief Request SC-RR-A07.
