South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) submits this letter in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 21.21(a)(2) as a final report of an identified defect potentially associated with a substantial safety hazard.
An Interim report was submitted on April 16, 2002 in the referenced letter.
On August 26, 2002, ABB submitted a 10CFR Part 21 Report to the NRC with the subject "Power Shield Transformer Saturation at 12X Instantaneous 10CFR Part 21 Report" discussing the current transformer problem discovered at the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station.
Based upon testing and engineering review of potentially affected components at VCSNS, a substantial safety hazard does not exist at VCSNS. Corrective actions have also been taken to reconfigure the potentially affected Power Shield units out of the limiting conditions noted in the ABB report.
