Dear Mr. Cooper:
We have received the enclosed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) correspondence dated August 2, 2002, transmitting the FEMA final report for the June 4, 2002 radiological emergency preparedness plume pathway exercise at the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant.
No deficiencies were identified during the exercise. However, two Areas Requiring Corrective Action (ARCAs) were identified.
We fully recognize that any corrective actions to be implemented may involve parties and political institutions which are not under your direct control. Nonetheless, we expect that assistance, if appropriate, will be extended.
In accordance with 10 CFR Part 2.790 of the NRCs "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter without its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRCs document system (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).
