I WILL DESCRIBE GENERAL CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH THIS TASK IS TO BE PERFORMED AND PROVIDE THE NECESSARY TOOLS WITH WHICH TO PERFORM THIS TASK.

1. Diesel A fails to start on a loss of AC power. EOP-6.0:

1. Diesel Generator 'A' is started locally with TEST MODE protection enabled.

INTTIATING CUES:

1. Control Room directs locally starting D/G "A" per EOP-6.0.

1. EOP-6.0, Attachment I is returned to examiner.

INOTE 1: Examiner informs operator that there is a "start failure" annunciator I

(Window 6-1) and the engine has not started.

No other alarms are I

present. If asked about D/G air and fuel parameters, inform operator that starting air tank pressure is 400#, fuel oil system is normal and there are no flags on the relay panel.

STEP STANDARD S 1.

At the diesel generator local Alarms and indications monitored on control panel, monitor the local control panel, XCX 5201.

alarms and indications to determine start failure.

(DG-436) Use the ARP as necessary.

INOTE 2:

Cue operator that VOLTAGE REGULATOR is AS SHOW, (Auto).

STEP STANDARD S 2.

Ensure VOLTAGE REGULATOR is in Operator verifies VOLTAGE REGULATOR is AUTO in automatic.

Cue Operator that D/G did not start after each of the following I

pushbuttons are depressed.

Depressing the Engine Shutdown Reset I

pushbutton does reset the START failure annunciator, which reenergizes 7 seconds later.

STEP STANDARD S 3.

Depress each of the following Operator depresses GEN RELAYS RESET, reset pushbuttons.

(1) GEN EXCITER RESET, and ENGINE SHUTDOWN RELAYS RESET (2)

STEP STANDARD S 5.

Momentarily depress the EMERG Operator depresses EMERG START START pushbutton.

Cue operator that engine is cranking, starts to acelerate within five seconds STEP STANDARD S*6.

Attempt to manual start using Operator engages spanner wrench and the Main Air Start Valve depresses air start valve for 5 seconds.

Cue operator that the D/G breaker closes after engine reaches 490 rpm, voltage is 6700 and frequency 59.5 hz (if requested).

Observe diesel generator starts and accelerates to 514 rpm.

STANDARD Operator observes tachometer for proper rpm.

lower switch, adjust voltage to 7.2 KV.

STANDARD Operator positions governor switch to raise to adjust frequency until 60 Hz is observed on the frequency meter.
