Subject:
Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station License No. DPR-28 (Docket No. 50-271)
Final Response to Security Order of February 25, 2002 On February 25, 2002, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued an Order' modifying the operating license for the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station to require compliance with specified interim safeguards and security compensatory measures (ICMs).
Similar Orders were issued to all operating nuclear power reactors as a result of the continuing, generalized high-level threat environment that has existed following the events of September 11, 2001.
The Order required complete implementation of the ICMs listed in Attachment 2 of the Order no later than August 31, 2002.
Pursuant to Section III.C.2 of the Order, Vermont Yankee 2 (VY) reports that on August 31, 2002, full compliance with the requirements of the Order had been achieved. In implementing the safeguards and security ICMs, VY met the intent of industry guidance 3 that was determined by the NRC to be acceptable for implementation of the ICMs.
