SUMMARY
OF MANAGEMENT ACTIONS January - June 2002 PROGRAM
SUMMARY
The Arkansas Nuclear One annual random testing rate is 50 percent.
During this reporting period, approximately 27.1 percent of the population was randomly tested.
The rate of positive tests from random testing was 0.23 percent.
POSITIVE RESULTS:
During the 6-month reporting period, 1254 samples were collected and tested. Eight of the samples were confirmed positive for illegal substances or alcohol.
MANAGEMENT ACTIONS:
Six of the eight persons who tested positive were pre-access contractors who were denied access. The seventh person was a randomly tested contract employee, and the eighth was a contractor supervisor who was for-cause tested. Both were denied access.
There was one for-cause drug test performed on an Entergy Operations, Inc. (EOI) employee during the 6-month reporting period. Test results were negative.
One for-cause drug test was performed on a contract employee during this 6-month period. Test results were negative.
One contractor refused to be tested during pre-badging screening and was denied access.
EVENTS REPORTED TO THE NRC:
During this reporting period, there was one violation of the fitness-for-duty program that was NRC reportable per 10CFR26.73(a)(2)(ii). This involved the positive for-cause test of a contractor supervisor.
PROGRAM EVALUATION:
No programmatic problems were identified during this reporting period.
Standardization of fitness-for-duty methods for EOI and the implementation of revised IOCFR26 requirements are still ongoing.
