FERMI 2 - CHANGES TO PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED NRC SAFEGUARDS INSPECTION
Dear Mr. O'Connor:
On March 4, 2002, the NRC issued an annual assessment letter covering the period from April 2001 to December 2001. This letter contained a preliminary schedule of NRC safeguards inspections through December 2002. Our March 4, 2002 letter identified an August 5-9, 2002, inspection for the access control and access authorization programs. Due to follow up issues associated with the events of September 11, 2001, circumstances unforseen when the schedule was developed, and emergent issues, we have decided to modify the August 5-9, 2002, safeguards inspection objective to review response to contingency events (IP 71130-03).
This change has been discussed with Mr. J. Korte of your staff. If you have questions regarding the NRC actions discussed above, please contact Mr. James Creed at (630) 829-9857.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's document system (ADAMS).
