SUMMARY

Operations At approximately 0230 on Sunday, 05/05/02, a decision was made to shut down the Kewaunee unit. This decision was reached after careful consideration of the information that was obtained as a result of several tube leak tests that were conducted on the "A" Component Cooling Water Heat Exchanger. Basically, the number of tube leaks that were discovered, the nature of the flaws, and the inability to quickly determine the cause of the flaws, along with the inability to restore the heat exchanger to an operable status within the LCO time frame, led to this decision.

G-1 was opened on Sunday, 05/05/02 at 1822. Following the complete sleeving of Component Cooling Water Heat Exchangers A and B, both trains of Component Cooling were returned to service on Tuesday, 05/14/02 at 1530 and a plant heatup commenced. On Wednesday, 05/15/02 at 1057 the Reactor became critical; G-1 was closed at 2338. Full power was reached on Friday 05/17/02 at 2115. The unit has continued to operate at 100%

steady state power operation throughout the remainder of the reporting period.
